Applied Ethics, Inc. (AE) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Massachusetts, USA. Since it was established in 2007, AE’s principal project has been its people-to-people peacebuilding initiative, Pax Populi®. and especially efforts to advance peace through education through our online school, Pax Populi Academy (PPA).
Following the return to power of the Taliban in August 2021, all girls and women were barred from formal education beyond the 6th grade. AE responded by reorganizing PPA as a full-time underground school for girls denied access to formal education due to their gender.
Now in its third academic year, the “new” PPA offers a complete curriculum for over 110 female students in grades 7 to 12. Most of our students live in extreme poverty and are unable to cover the internet costs needed to attend classes. We cover this cost for as many students as possible, but our funds are insufficient. We never charge for our services and rely on donations to continue this work.
