Applied Ethics, Inc. (AE) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Massachusetts, USA. Established in 2007, AE’s principal project has been its people-to-people peacebuilding initiative, Pax Populi®.
Since its founding in 2007, Pax Populi has focused most of its efforts on peace through education initiatives in Afghanistan. Following the return to power of the Taliban in August 2021, all girls and women were barred from formal education beyond the 6th grade. Given the massive need this has created, in October 2023, Pax Populi launched an underground online school for young women in Afghanistan that aims to meet standards for a high school education. The school is successfully advancing through its pilot phase, laying the foundation for further development of its curriculum and administration, and the expansion of its student body.
