Applied Ethics, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Massachusetts, USA. The main work of AE is the people-to-people peacebuilding initiative called Pax Populi, which, since 2009, has focused most of its attention on the conflict in Afghanistan. Pax Populi Academy is the online school of Pax Populi in which volunteers from several American universities and individuals from around the world provide one-on-one English language tutoring via videoconferencing to students in major cities across Afghanistan. Following the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan in August 2021, AE was compelled to suspend our operations there. Since then, AE/Pax Populi has reconfigured its programs to assist some of the estimated 80,000 Afghans who fled their country and are being resettled in the United States.
